POLICE are investigating after shots were fired at Mr Percival’s bar and restaurant at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves overnight, with the shooting coming from a vessel on the Brisbane River.
Police say multiple shots were fired at the Boundary St bar about 2am.
Early investigations indicate the shots were fired from a small vessel travelling along the Brisbane River.
It’s believed three or four people were on board. The bar was closed at the time and no-one was injured.
A woman, believed to be the bar manager, was inside the premises at the time of the incident counting tills.
The area remains a crime scene today, with police tape and security guards stopping access to the area.
The incident comes only weeks after a suspicious fire at the overwater bar.
CCTV footage shows a man approached Mr Percival’s and threw items covered into accelerant into the premises.
There was interior damage to the restaurant, but no structural damage.
Police this morning said that incident was still be investigated and they are yet to determine if they’re connected.
Members of the public who may have witnessed the shooting or have relevant information are urged to contact police.
In a statement, Howard Smith Wharves CEO Luke Fraser has confirmed the bar was closed at the time of the incident.
“Safety is our top priority and thankfully no-one was injured ... however there was a small amount of damage to the venue,” the statement said.
“We are assisting police with their investigation and working with them to implement increased security measures.”
Mr Percival’s today remains closed as police continue their investigations.
Andrea Biancalana, who has lived near the wharves for four years says she feels “very unsafe” following recent incidents.
Ms Biancalana said the demographic of people around the area had changed significantly since she moved in, as the popular precinct now attracts unwanted attention.
“The type of people that are coming are different,” she said.
