A Mudjimba man has been warned he could lose his licence for two years if he drives again after he accumulated 27 demerit points in the first two and a half years of having a driver’s licence.

Xavier Deveraux Nathan, 20, pleaded guilty in Noosa Magistrates Court on Tuesday to driving while disqualified.

Police prosecutor Alison Johnstone told the court Nathan was pulled over by police while driving on David Low Way at Peregian Beach on March 10,2022 at 9.12am.

“He was driving with a suspended provisional licence that was to be suspended until April 19, 2021,” Sergeant Johnstone said.

“When questioned he had no emergent reason for driving.”

While looking at Nathan’s traffic history, Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said he had accumulated 27 demerit points, with the limit for provisional licence holders four points.

“You would’ve known you were suspended,” Magistrate Stjernqvist said.

“If you drive again, the next minimum is two years … next time you think about getting in the driver’s seat of a car just think about that.”

Nathan was fined $300 fine and disqualified from driving for six months.

No conviction was recorded.
