Crash leaves Ford ute abandoned after late-night hooning reports

Police are investigating wild night-time hooning through a sleepy suburb as images emerge of a ute that crashed into ditch.

Police are investigating after a black Ford ute crashed off McKinnon Drive in Tewantin around 1am on Friday, hitting a wooden pedestrian bridge before being abandoned in a ditch.

Authorities have confirmed they are pursuing information that the incident may be connected to reports of hooning in the area overnight.

Resident Paul Garratt shared photos of the damaged ute on a community social media page, expressing frustration over the suspected hooning.

He said the driver of the ute came to a “sticky end” on McKinnon Drive near the sports grounds.

“The police just turned up at 7am and the ‘accident’ occurred at around 1am according to a lady that was present,” Mr Garratt said.

“Hopefully nobody was hurt.”

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokeswoman said no arrests were made or charges laid.
