Two people have court dates to add to their calendar after they allegedly drove to the Noosa Courthouse in a stolen car on February 7.

Noosa Police Sergeant Mark Jones said the man and woman, aged in their 20s, attended the Noosa Magistrates Court on February 7 and allegedly parked the stolen Audi Q5 SUV with stolen number plates on a side street near the courthouse.

“A plain-clothed police officer was speaking to the male offender in regards to other matters and due to her vigilance she spotted the other person coming out of the side street, where the vehicle was then located,” he said.

The pair was arrested and charged with stealing the car and stealing number plates, among other charges.

The number plates were returned to a Maroochydore business.

“The car’s been recovered,” Sergeant Jones said.

The man, Rhys Alexander Davis, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday, February 8 charged with unlawfully using a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner and receiving tainted property, namely registration plates.

Davis plead guilty to both charges and the matter was adjourned until Friday, February 10.

Magistrate Rodney Madsen warned Davis about the consequences of his offending.

“I’ve had friends who have had their cars stolen and people get really angry,” he said.

“The community gets really upset about this.

“You’ve got to really smarten your act up and start thinking about this because someone might get really angry because they’ve had their car stolen and they’ll do something that you might regret more than they do.

“That’s the free advice while you’re sitting down in the cells thinking about life.”

The woman is due to appear in the Noosa Magistrates Court on February 28.
