SHAKEN neighbours have described the horrific scene that took place when a car crashed into a palm tree at a property north of Brisbane, leaving one man dead and three other people fighting for life.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Samsonvale Rd at Bray Park just after 11.30pm on Friday night.

“It would appear the vehicle has lost control and mounted the footpath, it’s then collided through a fence and come to rest in a front yard of one of the houses,” Senior-Sergeant Jeff Lansdown said at the scene.

Neighbour Lisa Livingstone-Kameta said luckily the owners of the property that the car smashed into are away on school holidays.

Ms Livingstone-Kameta rushed downstairs after hearing a “great bang” to find the car billowing smoke and a girl in the back seat screaming for help.

“We were upstairs and the whole house shook, we just heard the bang and we came flying downstairs and there was smoke coming out of the car,” she said.

“We ran up trying to get as much stuff off the car as possible but there was a tree on top of it.”

Ms Livingstone-Kameta said to the car was like “a screwed up piece of paper”.

“It was absolutely horrific,” she said.

“I was sitting here contemplating this morning about this stretch of road and the number of crashes and near crashes we’ve seen.”

“There was only one that was [conscious] screaming in the back, a female screaming in the back”

“I just feel sad. Four families are getting the phone call that one hasn’t survived and the others are in a critical condition.

“There was a few of us neighbours that came out and everyone was really upset.”

Another neighbour - who prefers to remain anonymous - said her husband had been overtaken by a car as he was nearing their home.

He arrived just after the car crashed and was the one to first dial Triple 0 and rush to the aid of the driver and passengers.

“I heard this bang, more than anything and thought it didn’t sound good and I hoped he hadn’t been collected coming into the driveway,” the neighbour said.

“I looked up the road and saw what I thought was fog but it ended up being smoke, I couldn’t even see the car.”

“I didn’t get too close, my husband said, ‘You don’t want to see this’”.

Vehicles are supposed to limit speed to 70km/h on the stretch of road near the crash scene. Neighbours said they believed the car that crashed may have been speeding.

Person killed after car crashes into Brisbane house

The tragedy follows another incident last week where a stolen car containing three teenagers smashed into a property at Stafford, on Brisbane’s northside.

One of the teens, 15, was killed in the crash.

The 15-year-old driver of the vehicle was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence.
