Woolworths truck at Bakers Creek crashes, closed Mackay Ring Rd

A Woolworths truck driver was taken to hospital after his trailer rolled on a major road south of Mackay, closing the thoroughfare to traffic for two hours.

The driver of a Woolworths truck was lucky to escape with minor injuries after his semi trailer rolled at a Mackay roundabout.

The fully-loaded trailer bound for ‘the fresh food people’ rolled over at Mackay Ring Road and Stockroute Rd at Bakers Creek shortly after 10am.

It is understood the driver was initially pinned inside the cab but was released a short time later.

Traffic was stopped in all directions near the roundabout from about 10am.

The flow of traffic resumed about midday after the truck was towed from the site.

The driver was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition with minor back injuries and cuts.
