Valkyrie man suffers burns in BBQ incident, South Mackay patient in e-scooter crash

A man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering burns to the face in a freak backyard BBQ incident, while another person suffered a head injury in a e-scooter crash.

Two people were taken to hospital overnight after suffering head and face injuries, with one having to be airlifted to medical care.

The Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed a man in his 30s sustained “significant burns” to his face after a backyard BBQ incident in rural Valkyrie, about two hours south of Mackay.

He was airlifted from a private address in a stable condition to Mackay Base Hospital at 5.59pm.

Another patient of unknown gender suffered head injuries after an e-sooter accident in South Mackay on the corner of Milton Street and Bridge Road at 6.22pm.

They were also taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.
