Two people have suffered minor burns after a car fire spread to surrounding bush and other vehicles in the Whitsundays region.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed a woman in her 30s and a man in his 40s were taken with minor burns and smoke inhalation to the Proserpine Hospital.
Queensland Fire Department crews were called to a reported car fire on Strathdickie Road at Strathdickie about 3.30pm, with five crews and additional Rural Fire Service crews attending.
A QFD spokesman said it was unknown how the blaze started, but said no structures were under threat.
“Looks like there were several different fires, spread to nearby grass … losses were a ute and a light truck with some camping gear,” he said.
“Everyone accounted for.
“The fire was mostly extinguished, but not quite contained by around 5pm, and local landholders are helping out with water supply.”
More to come.
