A 29-year-old Sarina man rescued from a crash at Alligator Ck, remained in a critical condition as of Saturday morning.

This comes after the four-wheel drive he was in rolled multiple times down an embankment in a horror crash off the Bruce Highway on Friday.

According to a Queensland Police Service statement, the 1997 silver Toyota Land Cruiser had been travelling north on the Bruce Highway near Alligator Creek, south of Mackay, just after 7am.

“Initial investigations indicate … a grey 2022 Hyundai Palisade was turning onto the Bruce Highway from Perry Rd when it collided with (the) oncoming four-wheel drive,” the statement said.

“The four-wheel-drive … swerved before losing control and rolling multiple times down an embankment.

“The driver, a 19-year-old Sarina man, and his passenger, a 45-year-old Sarina man, were taken to Mackay Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
