Efforts to remove a B-double truck are expected to continue past midnight after it rolled spilling diesel on an arterial road in the Whitsundays.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said two 52-year-old men from Townsville, one the driver of the truck and the other a passenger, were injured in the crash along Peter Delemothe Road between Collinsville and Bowen about 11.30am.
He said one of the men was from Heatley with the other from Mundingburra.
Firefighter crews had earlier worked to cut one of the men free from the truck after he became trapped. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said he was taken to Collinsville Hospital with a minor foot injury.
He said the other male who had been in the semi-trailer was flown to Townsville Hospital with cuts and injuries to his head shortly after 2pm.
The QPS spokesman said crews were still working to clear the scene as of 8pm Thursday and were not expected to finish until about 3am Friday.
The road is closed to traffic and authorities will not be creating a diversion.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
Diesel fuel had been leaking from the truck but this has been contained.
It is understood the Environmental Protection Agency will investigate.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the road had been cleared and was operating unhindered as of 8.43am on Friday.
A Townsville Hospital and Health Services spokeswoman confirmed the man flown there was in a stable condition.
