Teen boy critical, another five unwell after ingesting substance at North Mackay

As police await toxicology reports, they are trying to uncover the identity of the person who supplied six teens with an unknown substance that has left one boy fighting for life.

Police are awaiting a toxicology report for six teenagers who ingested an unknown substance, leaving one 15-year-old boy fighting for his life.

Mackay Detective Inspector Tom Armitt said the North Mackay home remained a crime scene with a police investigation under way to determine the origin of the substance.

He said police were seeking to uncover who had supplied the substance to the six teenagers who were aged between 12 and 16 years old.

One of the boys was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a critical condition about 10.30am Thursday and was continuing to fight for his life.

Five other teenagers were taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

At least two ambulance SUVs and seven police vehicles including four marked and three unmarked cars were at the North Mackay home shortly after the teenagers were believed to be transported.

People believed to be known to the owner of the house waited in distress outside the faded orange building on Malcomson St while emergency services worked inside.

One man was seen fidgeting with grass on the ground outside the home, walking intermittently to speak to police stationed outside the garage.

One 15-year-old girl and a second 15-year-old boy were discharged from the hospital Thursday afternoon.

A 12-year-old girl, 15-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy remain in hospital in a stable condition.

A 15-year-old boy continues to fight for his life.
