Swift water rescue crews help man stranded on vehicle in floodwaters
Swift water crews have rescued a man stranded on top of his vehicle in floodwaters in North Queensland.

Swift water crews have rescued a man stranded on top of his vehicle in floodwaters at North Eton.
Emergency services received reports of a vehicle and a man in floodwaters at 6.30am Wednesday at the Sandy Creek crossing at the Mirani Eton Rd and Marian Eton Rd intersection.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the first crew arrived about 6.50am.
It is understood the job had initially gone through to the Queensland Ambulance Service.
When the first QFES crew arrived there was a car in the water and the occupant “was on top of the car”, the QFES spokeswoman said.
“They did say the water wasn’t flowing quickly,” she said.
“Swift water rescue fire crews made contact with the person on the vehicle.
“They were able to enter the water and retrieve the person from the top of the vehicle.”
The occupant had been retrieved and was on dry land by 7.20am, she said.
Police and paramedics were also called to the scene however QAS was stood down as the man was able to be safely helped from the flood waters.
The Sandy Creek crossing between North Eton and Eton remains closed.
