Keen Mackay golfers landed a hole in one of a different kind with the inaugural Mayor’s Charity Golf Day a hit for worthy causes.
More than $50,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity was raised from the day on the green, with the funds to be used to build the family room at Mackay Base Hospital.
The golf day was held on the same weekend as the Mayor’s Charity Ball, which raised more than $100,000.
Director of Enlightened Financial Solutions James Wortley said the golf day went well.
“It was a great day full of laughs, entertainment and some mixed golf,” he said.
“There were numerous novelty holes with all golfers hitting with the opposite clubs, hitting marshmallows, driving with a putter and dizzy driving.”
