Naked streaker flattened by spectator at Mackay T20 final

A local cricket final was interrupted by a nude streaker - but one local wasn’t having it. Watch the bone-crunching blow and hear from the man responsible.

Panic washed over the streaker’s face.

A glance over his shoulder revealed he’d put 20 metres between himself and the security guard in sluggish pursuit. He exited the field and slowed, plotting the many unguarded potential escape routes.

But what he had failed to notice was a six-foot-five gangly and red-headed Mackay local - durry still in mouth - closing in. Fast.

An attempted baulk came too late. Bang. Shoulder met head. The naked pitch invader was flattened and subsequently restrained until security could catch up.

It was a hit that would’ve made fellow north Queenslander, the late Andrew Symonds, proud.

The hit would've been worthy of a few weeks on the sidelines in Australia's winter codes.

“I saw this bloke crossing the field, and I just thought he’s ruining a good night out at the local cricket,” began the man responsible for halting the indecency, who wished to remain anonymous.

“I just thought that I had to put a stop to it, because no one else would.

“I thought there would’ve been 15 blokes lining up to hit him.”

As for the damage?

“It seemed like he was a bit winded.”

The incident occurred in the Mackay Cricket Association first grade T20 Shootout final, where Walkerston claimed a 14-run victory over Pioneer Valley at Great Barrier Reef Arena.

Walkerston playing coach Luke Jackson, a champion of Mackay cricket, revealed he’d seen his fair share of streakers in his time - but never one with their kit fully off.

“It’s not something you see everyday,” Jackson laughed.

Security allowed the man to redress himself - although he left his underwear behind in his haste - and it appeared the chaos had drawn to a close.

Not quite. A final twist would ensue.

As reinforcements were radioed in by the lone security guard, the now-clothed streaker made a break for it.

With the help of a mate he took off, but this time around the pursuit from the security guard wouldn’t be as enduring, for he lost his balance downhill and tumbled forward into the grass.

The fall would render him helpless as the troublemaker dashed into the darkness.

Unfortunately no rugged locals were lurking in the shadows to deal another bone-crunching blow.
