Meet the local athletes who are setting the standard for Mackay

There have been some stunning performances from Mackay athletes in recent memory. Find out which competitors have been making a name for themselves.

Mackay Athletics Club has seen some spectacular performances over the past few months, find out which locals have been raising the standard both on and off the track.

All-Schools State Championships

Ethan Hill (Sprinter)

Hill made it to three finals at the championships, securing personal bests in both the 200m and 400m events. He ultimately came in sixth in the 100, fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 400.

In doing so, Hill secured a place in the ANQ team heading to Brisbane next month.

Mikayla Webb (Sprinter)

Webb was a genuine star, securing the gold medal in the 200m along with a PB, while also taking silver and a PB in the 100m event. Her 200m time was just 0.15 short of the state record.

Secured her place in the Queensland team.

Toby Rule (Long distance)

Another gold medallist, Rule was top of the class in the 3000m event, with a season best time that was just 0.25 seconds off his PB. He also took out fourth place in the 1500m.

Along with also taking a place in the Queensland team, Rule will be travelling to Melbourne to compete at the ZATOPEK Australian All Schools 3000m Championship in December.

Connor Lawn (Triple jump)

Lawn secured bronze in the under-16 boys triple jump.

NQ Championships

Ayla Moon (Middle distance)

After taking out the Charlie Doyle award for most outstanding middle distance athlete, Moon is now preparing to take on the 10-12 years Track and Field School Sports Australian Championships later this month.

Competing in the 800m and 1500m disciplines, she will be taking on some of the best the country has to offer in Sydney on November 28.

Damon Brown - Male Athlete of the Year

Kiera Caban - Para Female Athlete of the Year

Belinda Rule - Coach of the Year

Kevin Galea - Master Male Athlete of the Year

Mel Esau - Master Female Athlete of the Year

Trudie Bradbury - Official of the Year

The awards will be held in Townsville on November 16.
