Mackay Cricket Association: Every grade’s team of the week

Be it blistering centuries or staggeringly low team totals, it was a captivating weekend of Mackay Cricket. Discover who starred with all five of our teams of the week.

At the end of round five, the ladder in Mackay’s 1st Grade DBCT Poole Cup remains extremely tight, with just one game separating all six sides.

A strong innings from Sam Vassallo saw Walkerston cruise past Souths 183 to hand them their second loss of the season.

Elsewhere in first grade, Pioneer Valley gallantly defended 149 against Magpies, while Norths slumped to their second straight loss in a high-scoring thriller against Brothers.

Norths performed far better in the seconds however, rolling Souths for 72 to secure a 157-run victory.

Against Brothers’ seconds, Sarina rattled 8-304 off the back of a remarkable innings from David Pietzner, who struck 11 sixes and 11 fours en route to his 65-ball 119.

Kulwinder Singh also scored 127 not out for Pinnacle in fourth-grade, while Cooper Newbery of Walkerston’s U14s plundered an unbeaten ton in the junior ranks.
