Mackay’s best junior track and field stars are ready to shine at the Australian Championships in Brisbane this weekend.
It’s all systems go for 13 of Mackay’s brightest young athletes, as they prepare to take on the best from around the country for a shot at national glory.
The athletes, including Mikayla Webb, Toby Rule, and Kayce Hoani-Vincent, will look to add to their medal tally from last year’s national all schools competition and take home some hardware.
Jacob Adams will be representing Mackay in both the U17 100m and 200m events and, given his success over the 2023 season thus far, could be one of the ones to watch at this weekend’s nationals.
Webb has already proven her skill, winning a silver medal for Queensland at this year’s state championships in the 100m, as well as a bronze in the 200m.
She also placed seventh in the 100m event at the national titles last year and secured third place at the national all schools in December.
Toby Rule will be competing in the U17 3000m, 2000m steeplechase, and 1500m events.
Rule has been training hard for this competition and is looking to make a statement on the national stage.
Matthew Minchianski will be competing in the U14 triple jump, shot put, and javelin events and will be eager to show off his training and make a name for himself at the national level.

Herrington is a talented young athlete and is eager to show off her skills on the national stage.
Noah Porter will be competing in the 90m hurdles and high jump events.
