The silly season is in full swing for the Rugby League Mackay and District competition, with teams making some major off-season moves.
There has been complete roster shake-ups at some clubs, while others have quietly added that missing piece ahead of a bumper 2025 league season.

Wests Tigers Mackay
Jackson Phillips
Phillips will be making his return home after spending time playing overseas in the UK, with the former Bill Paten Medallist set to add some elite talent in the Tigers’ middle.
Nic Zusak
The talented hooker is transferring across from Cooma Stallions in NSW, and will be a key addition in one of the most pivotal roles.
Hayden Brownsey
A Tiger who will be pulling on the jumper once again after taking 2024 off, Brownsey will serve to sure up both their edge and middle in 2025.
Tait Brodel
Another player returning after taking a break in the 2024 campaign, Brodel will join Brownsey in the middle.
Yosepha Kepa
The former Magpie will operate in Wests’ halves in 2025, looking set to play a vital role in their 2025 season.
Josh Kilpatrick
Kilpatrick will provide some valuable skills and talent as an outside back, as he joins Kepa in making the move across from Magpies.
Souths Sharks
Ben Barba
The Sharks made by far the biggest splash of the off-season so far, when they confirmed the signing of Dally M medallist Ben Barba for 2025.
Barba, who has torn up the local league fields across North Queensland since being axed from the NRL five years ago, just finished up a premiership-winning RLMD campaign with Sarina. He will head to the Crocodiles rivals next season to play alongside his brother Marmin.
Manu Ma’u
Thesigning of a former New Zealand and Tongan international player is another major coup for the Sharks. Ma’u has plenty of NRL experience to offer the club
Kenny Edwards
Joining his former black and white teammate in Tudravu, the former Paramatta Eels second rower will be a major boost to the Sharks who were defeated by the Magpies in the semi-final last season.
Maika Tudravu
RLMD’s leading tryscorer of 2024 will depart Magpies for the Sharks this season. After the disappointment of a preliminary final loss last season, Tudravu will be eager to go one better this year.
Jesuah Wini
Wini makes the trek up the highway to join the Sharks as their centre for 2025. The Central Queensland representative will be a critical piece to the puzzle.
Augustus Rangihuna
Another signing across from the Magpies, a potential position change will be on for Rangihuna as he works in the front row.
Whitsunday Brahmans
Emmanuel Kame
Former Papua New Guinea NRL bruiser Kame will be a vital piece of the Brahmans’ forward pack for the upcoming season.
Riccie Arriola
Arriola is a local to nearby Cannonvale and will be another invaluable addition to the Brahman’s forward lineup for 2025.
Elijah Nalamau
A 23-year-old star also from PNG, Nalamau could prove to be another key to lifting the Brahman’s to a better 2025 season.
Ezra Sakaia
Another addition Whitsunday’s growing forward pack, Sakaia joins PNG teammate Nalamau for the upcoming year.
Luke Borghardt
After taking the 2024 season off, Borghardt will be ready to sink his teeth into the 2025 campaign.
Moranbah Miners
Chris McQueen
The former Rabbitoh, Titan, Tiger and Huddersfield Giant will join the Miners for 2025 in what could prove to be a pivotal signing for the club.
A Queensland State of Origin representative, McQueen will occupy the Miners’ second row.
Sarina Crocs
Nathan Cullen
Cullen will make the trek back over to Australia after spending two years competing for Cornwall in Britain’s Super League. A former Croc who has played alongside current coach Kane Linnett, Cullen will be a valuable addition to the squad.
Laz Sua
Sua has a strong background in Queensland rugby league having been a part of the system for several years, with the club lauding his experience as a player when they announced the signing.
Kalen Reweti
Reweti played last year in Townsville and will be another key piece to the Crocs’ A-grade title defence.
Luke Pietzner
The former Sarina junior last played for the Crocs when they won the A-grade premiership in 2021, and he’ll be eager to help them go back-to-back in 2025.
Scott Lee
After taking a season away from the Crocs to pursue a coaching role, the club will be eager to see what he can offer in the new year.
Isaac Bulsey
Bulsey is a big-bodied athlete who will provide the Crocs with plenty of athleticism and on-field intelligence when he joins the fold in 2025.
