Precipitous conditions in Mackay couldn’t halt the fervour of the local cricketers. Find out who was producing for their respective clubs this weekend.

First grade

Marcus Lamperd (Norths) - 73* (68)

Lamperd caught fire for Norths as he got them over the line against Souths in the shortened 25-over format, bludgeoning 10 boundaries for his innings.

Cameron Keene (Souths) - 3/28 (5 overs), 28 (18)

Despite his side’s loss, Keene stood the tallest for the Sharks with both bat and ball, with his three wickets proving vital early, while he gave the side a chance with a quickfire.

Kerrod Tortora (Norths) - 3/24 (5 overs)

The leading wicket taker for Norths as they held off a gallant Sharks run chase.

Mitchell Wadsworth (Brothers) - 58* (44)

While Brothers eventually fell to Pioneer Valley, Wadsworth put in a solid stint at the crease to put his side in a competitive position.

Bailey Camilleri (Pioneer Valley) - 3/24 (4 overs)

Camilleri produced a strong spell for the Panthers to keep them on top.

Lane Kohler (Pioneer Valley) - 33 (15), 1/29 (5 overs)

Gets the nod for a mighty stint at the crease which saw him blast his team closer to victory.

Adam Zurvas (Magpies) - 44 (43)

Impressed at the top of the order as he laid the foundation for a strong innings for Magpies.

Josh Maher (Walkerston) - 3/15 (3 overs)

The pick of the Roosters’ bowlers, he picked up his three wickets in quick fashion.

Andrew Borg (Magpies) - 4/17 (3.1 overs), 25 (26)

Borg produced with both bat and ball, but it was the spark he provided with the ball that set the tone for another Magpies win.

Second grade

Ben Zurvas (Magpies) - 101 (73)

Played essentially a lone hand for the Magpies as they finished on a total of 171, notching up 15 boundaries.

Jordan Gray-Knight (Walkerston) - 3/22 (6 overs)

Took a key early wicket of the dangerous Bryan Holdsworth who looked as though he might take the game away from his side early.

Liam Zurvas (Magpies) - 3/21 (7 overs)

Zurvas had a great weekend all round in both the seconds and thirds, picking up three wickets in the seconds on Sunday.

Neil Gustavson (Walkerston) - 41 (32)

Belted seven boundaries including a pair of sixes in Walkerston’s run chase to keep them ahead of schedule.

Ryan Pietzner (Sarina) - 77

13 boundaries including six sixes were the exclamation point on this knock from Pietzner as he led the Spartans to victory.

Chaise Crough (Sarina) - 69

Worked alongside Pietzner to produce a big partnership which proved the difference against Pinnacle.

Callum Burgess (Pinnacle) - 5/21 (4 overs)

Despite his side’s struggles with the ball, he was nonetheless impressive throughout as he picked up a five-wicket haul.

Shane Barford (Souths) - 50* (53)

Almost did enough to allow his side to chase down their total, but was ultimately left just short.

Lachlan Ipson (Brothers) - 52 (86)

Was the man who kept Brothers in the contest on Saturday as they fell sort of the mark for the most part.

Thomas Knight (Norths) - 4/35 (7 overs)

Knight was the key figure who drove Norths to victory with the ball, restricting their run rate by taking timely wickets.

Sam Carson (Norths) - 54 (32)

Nine boundaries (three sixes) from Carson got Norths to victory in short time in their matchup with Brothers.
