Exceptional individual showings have been plentiful across the first six rounds of senior Mackay Cricket Association, but which players have consistently stood tall across the season’s opening stanza?
A key player behind Souths’ spirited start to the season - which has them nestled in the ladder’s upper echelon in second - star batter Shaun Austin unsurprisingly tops the batting charts with an astounding average of 74.8 and 374 runs under his belt.
Hot on his heels are third grade bats Lance Ryan (averaging 102 if you don’t mind!) and Brendan Whitby (averaging 91), while Norths have four batters in the season’s top-10 to date.
It’s the bowlers that have led Pioneer Valley’s charge to top of the 1st grade ladder, with Bailey Camilleri and Cody Filewood proving to be the club’s chief destroyers with ball in hand. Both find themselves ranked in the top-three.
Aaron Kirby of Magpies third grade splits the PV pair, with 16 wickets and a remarkable average of 5.75.
