Sarina man in his 70s taken in hospital, Brewers Park sports shed in flames

An elderly man has been taken to Mackay Base Hospital after a sports shed fire in Sarina.

A man in his 70s has been taken to Mackay Base Hospital after suffering burns in a shed fire in Sarina on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a scene at Biltoft Street, Sarina at around 1.30pm after a shed full of sports equipment in Brewers Park caught fire.

The man has been treated for minor burns, according to Queensland Ambulance and fire crews are still on the scene.

It is believed no one else was injured and investigations will be underway shortly to determine the cause of the blaze.

Fire crews brought the flames under control at around 2.30pm and are still attending the scene, a Queensland Fire Department spokesman shared.
