A five-storey multi-residential development has been proposed just minutes from the Mackay surf.
The Beach Mackay would contain 77 units to be built on 8 Petrie Street near Illawong Beach, just minutes from town.
Aldev Holdings submitted the plans to Mackay Regional Council on January 20, but the works would be stage 3 and 4 of a development in the works for over a decade.
A $150 million approval was given to the previous developers in 2005, but work halted in 2008 and Aldev bought the development in 2013.
Stage 1, including 34 lots, opened in 2014 and sold out by 2016.
New plans show apartment owners would have access to a pool, spa, and barbecue pavilion.
A manager’s unit is planned next to a reception, gymnasium, games room, and coffee shop area at the end of Petrie Street.
Most of the apartments hold a master bedroom with ensuite, second bedroom, and either third or media room.
While four floors host six units, the top level of the North Tower has four larger three bedrooms and media room.
All have balconies looking out to the Pacific Ocean and pool area, with a lift and two stairwells on either end of the block.
A basement level holds 121 car parks for residents, with 23 visitor carparks at ground level.
A Domain listing for the beachfront apartments says developers are accepting offers above $270,000.
