Ray White Rural Sarina’s Kent Street said there were seven registered bidders for the property with five active when the auction kicked off at $1.5m.

It went under the hammer for $2.3m.

“The property was purchased by a local family that is expanding their operations and will carry the property on as a very productive cane farm,” Mr Street said.

The seller retained the 2022 crop but included good quality well maintained machinery such as multiple tractors, spray units and all other equipment necessary to carry on as a cane farm, Mr Street added.

The lot features a lovely four-bedroom plus office, two-storey home set against a fantastic rural backdrop, he said.

“On the farming side there were three sheds that included two large machinery sheds and a 282 megalitre Eton irrigation scheme allocation,” Mr Street said.

The farm had been in the seller’s family since the 1970s and was converted from a cattle property to a productive cane farm.

“Over time the sheds were built and the fantastic home built in 1996,” Mr Street said.

“There was ongoing development of the farm that included the introduction of irrigation, laser levelling and reconstructing the farm layout to improve efficiencies and increase production.

“This has made the farm into one that the sellers can be truly proud of offering.”

Mr Street said auctions were still the best way to sell rural properties such as Munbera Rd at the moment.

“It gives everyone the opportunity and room to react to the price,” he said.

Mr Street added there was good support from the cane industry for this most recent auction, which he said was a “sign of the times”.

“The future of cane is looking pretty bright,” he said.

Future auctions include an 80-hectare grazing property at 3289 Marlborough Rd, Blue Mountain and a 25-acre vacant farming allotment at Barrie Lane, Homebush.
