THEY are some of the most luxe – and expensive – properties on the market in the Mackay Whitsundays region.
And they range from a stunning Whitsundays property tipped to fetch $20 million, to a rural showstopper just outside of Mackay.
But the region’s most pricey properties are not just for the uber-rich looking for a private regional escape.
They also include an organic banana farm with picturesque hinterland views and a million-dollar investment opportunity in a major mining town.
Their listing comes as the inaugural Canstar Rising Start report ranks regional Queensland as the second hottest market tipped for price growth and sales in 2022, pipped at the post only by regional NSW, and ahead of regional WA.
MANDALAY HOUSE, Airlie Beach
On the market for an expected $20 million, Mandalay House near Airlie Beach is one of the jewels in the Whitsunday housing crown.
Built over three-and-a-half years by property developer Neil Murray with the finest materials and a passion for design, and currently owned by the Sydney-based Tartak family, the 2649 sq m mansion draws on the sweeping grandeur of Mediterranean palazzo design, with jaw-dropping views across the Coral Sea and towards Cape Gloucester.
It rents as holiday accommodation at $20,000 per night.
With a private deepwater marina and helipad, the property set on 4241sq m features six kingsize bedrooms with ensuites, including a 144sq m master bedroom with private sitting area and 52sq m dressing room.
With staff quarters, oceanfront dining pavilion or formal dining options, cinema, gym, sweeping marble staircases, arch-flanked horizon edge pool: the features are endless.

HAYMAN ESTATES, Hayman Island
Designed by architect Kerry Hill, this stunning four-bedroom, 650sq m hilltop retreat sits just across the bay one of Australia’s most prestigious resorts, Hayman Island.
The home offers seclusion, serenity, and connection with the natural world.
Sales agent Carol Carter, of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty, said there had been a strong domestic response to the property, that combined total privacy with mind-blowing views and resort facilities.
“We are seeing a new wave of Australians who may have traditionally travelled overseas,” she said.
“Hayman is in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, there’s tremendous value in that, and people want to be invested in that lifestyle, once they realise how magnificent it is.”
The property, on the market for $7.7 million, embraces its location with natural materials, elegant modern design that unifies the outdoors with luxurious interiors with floor to ceiling cyclone-rated glass, tempered for cool and shade by a web of timber, delivering sweeping views from on high across the Whitsundays, and access to all resort features, including private chef and butler. It has a horizon edge pool, and two golf buggies for getting about the island paradise.

Belvedere is an outstanding property in rural Nindaroo, north of Mackay city.
Expected to reach $6 million, the 1050sq m home is set on 3.27ha, a mix of beautifully landscaped areas including tropical native gardens, a children’s play area, tennis court and horizon edge pool gazing out across to the Cumberland Islands, alongside some natural forest spaces.
Built for family play, it has well appointed outdoor entertainment areas, informal bar and pool room, full home cinema, children’s lounge, massive sheds to keep family toys, and five large bedrooms.

Mr Beale said that with five bedrooms, a host of recreational spaces, and all the privacy and views offered by a rural hilltop, the fully furnished property will suit families looking for their dream home, or for use as a corporate retreat.
“Everything is done with this house, you don’t need to do a thing but move in,” he said.
