A man in his 40s has been hospitalised after his vehicle collided with a truck towing a triple road train.
The crash occurred at around 9:20pm on Saraji Road, near the mine at Dysart, leaving the driver of the smaller vehicle with head and face injuries.
Paramedics transported the man to Dysart hospital in stable condition shortly after.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service personnel remained at the scene after the truck’s driver informed them that, although the triple road train was empty, it had been carrying ammonium nitrate.
Emergency services inspected the truck and found no evidence of a spill of any residue chemical.
This incident comes two weeks after the Bruce Highway was closed for more than a day, because of a similar incident.
In that instance a truck had crashed on the highway near Bloomsbury and began leaking ammonium nitrate.
QFES first responders invoked the Public Service Preservation Act and established a 5km exclusion zone while the area was made safe.
