Mackay car crash: Alyssa Maree Stockton, Shona Lee Munro arrested after ‘serious offences’ from Townsville to Sarina

Two teenage girls accused of a car stealing spree, including ‘serious offences’ from Townsville to Sarina were supposed to face Mackay court this morning. Find out why they did not.

Two women allegedly involved in a car stealing spree in North Queensland can be named after a dramatic arrest involving a knife and a taser.

Alyssa Maree Stockton and Shona Lee Munro were set to face multiple charges on Tuesday, but neither appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court to have their cases heard.

Ms Stockton, 18, had been charged with 24 different offences, including eight unlawful use of a motor vehicle charges.

But her case was adjourned until February 22 after she tested positive for Covid while in the Mackay watch-house.

Ms Stockton was arrested on Monday on the corner of Bridge Rd and Nebo Rd for allegedly stealing a Ford Territory.

She is accused of pulling a knife on a police officer before she was arrested alongside Ms Munro who is facing eight charges including five unlawful use of a motor vehicle offences.

Police spotted the vehicle that had been allegedly stolen from an Andergrove home address earlier that morning, and officers tried to arrest the passengers while the car was stationary at the intersection.

Ms Stockton, who was driving the vehicle, allegedly rammed into another car in an attempt to get away.

Police were forced to then break multiple windows to pull Ms Stockton and Ms Munro, as well as a third unidentified passenger, from the vehicle.

Officers say police are still searching for a third female, who was in her late teens to early 20s, after she fled police.

Police have alleged Ms Stockton then pulled the knife and threatened police, before trying to escape on foot.

As she tried to make her escape, police allegedly used a taser on Ms Stockton to subdue her.

Ms Stockton will remain in custody ahead of her hearing date of February 7, where she will appear via videolink.

Ms Munro, who also tested positive to Covid, is expected to appear via videolink on Wednesday for a bail application.
