A man accused of videoing another person in the shower has had a warrant issued for his arrest after failing to appear in court.
Russell Albert Power-Nutley left his own lawyer in the lurch as Mackay acting magistrate Stephen Byrne reflected the time taken between the sentence date and the alleged offences in January, 2024.
It is understood police will allege Power-Nutley took a recording and attempted to take a recording of someone in a shower in Yeppoon on New Years Day 2024 and on January 4.
He is charged with making recordings in breach of privacy and attempting to make recordings in breach of privacy.
He is also charged with a contravention of a probation order, speeding, and two counts of driving with a licence disqualified by court order.
His lawyer Daniel Lane requested an adjournment but Mr Byrne assented to police prosecutor Sgt Hannah Beaumont’s submission for a warrant.
“This fellow has clearly dragged his feet in getting before the court,” Mr Byrne said.
“Not only has he not turned up, he’s not informed Mr Lane of turning up.”
No adjournment date was listed.
