A Mackay truck driver charged over a fatal crash between a B-double and a semi-trailer in Townsville is also accused of record keeping mismanagement across Central Queensland.
Philip Richard Sturrock was allegedly driving a semi-trailer when it collided with a B-double on the Bruce Highway at Stuart about 10.10pm on November 24, 2020.
As a result the B-double rolled down an embankment and a 64-year-old Gulliver man, the driver, tragically died at the scene.
Mr Sturrock received non-life-threatening injuries and has since been charged with four offences over the November 24 fatal crash.
He is facing one count each of dangerous driving causing death and making false or misleading entries and two counts of using a mobile phone.
Mr Sturrock, 62 of West Mackay, is also facing six charges in Mackay Mackay Magistrates Court for information required to be recorded immediately after starting work.
The alleged offending locations include Paget, the corner of Daunia Rd and Peak Downs Highway and Moranbah.
Mr Sturrock represented himself in Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning where he requested an adjournment.
During the very brief mention Mr Sturrock referred to the fact he was also facing charges in Townsville as well as the six in Mackay.
“It’s all in the lead up to, I’ve got to go to court in Townsville,” Mr Sturrock said.
“So it’s all in a lead up to that so they can get priors.”
The court heard he planned to apply for legal aid assistance.
Acting Magistrate Athol Kennedy urged him to make the application “as quick as you can” so it was well under way by his next mention.
His Mackay matters will be mentioned again in mid-January.
