A driver accused over a horror crash that claimed the life of a Sarina mum of two has been formally indicted in the district court about 12 months after police charged him over the collision.
An indictment was presented against Brent Jordan Smith in Mackay District Court on Wednesday for one count of dangerous driving causing death.
Tamara Boland had been travelling home from work on October 6, 2020 when her vehicle was involved in a head-on collision on Eton Homebush Rd about 5.50pm.
Tragically, not long after the 43 year old died at the scene her husband came across the crash site after he went looking for his wife when she did not return home.
McEwans Beach man Mr Smith was charged in December 2020 and the case was first mentioned in Mackay Magistrates Court in late January 2021.
Because of the nature of the charge the case must be finalised in the higher court.
Mr Smith faces up to 10 years jail if convicted over the crash.
His solicitor Sean Gibbs, of Fisher Dore Lawyers, asked for the case to be adjourned until the next Mackay District Court case callover day.
It will be mentioned on a date in January 2022.
