Peak Downs Highway crash: Driver dead after truck rollover at Greenmount
A truck driver has died in hospital after a crash on the Peak Downs Hwy west of Mackay. It is the second truck rollover to claim a life of a Qlder in a week.

A driver has died at Mackay Base Hospital following a truck rollover on the Peak Downs Highway west of Mackay.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed a 64-year-old Marian man died on Sunday following the crash at Greenmount just before 5pm on Thursday.
He had been taken to MBH in a critical condition about 6pm.
Initial investigations indicate the truck had been heading towards Mackay when it left the highway and crashed into a tree.
The truck rolled, caught on fire, and came to rest about 20m from the road with a member of the public reporting the incident to triple-0.
The QPS spokeswoman said the police would prepare a report for the coroner.
It is understood the death will not be counted as a traffic fatality because other factors may have contributed to the man’s passing.
It is understood the driver was stuck in the truck’s cab for a time before he was able to be removed and taken to hospital.
Emergency crews including police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the incident which resulted in one lane of the highway being temporarily closed to traffic.
Mackay Forensic Crash Unit were on scene.
The Mackay region crash followed a truck rollover north of Gin Gin on Wednesday morning which claimed the life of a Sunshine Coast woman who was a passenger in the B double.
The driver, a 51-year-old man, was seriously injured and taken to Brisbane from Bundaberg Hospital for further treatment.
