Mount Pleasant car stolen after home burglary on Phillip St

The opening of a garage door in the early hours of the morning alerted a Mount Pleasant resident that something was wrong.

The opening of their garage door sounded the alarm for a Mount Pleasant resident in the early hours of Tuesday.

Senior Constable Steve Smith said an intruder had forced their way into the Phillip St home through a locked door about 5.20am.

He said the intruder quickly searched the house and found the resident’s handbag containing the keys to their car.

The intruder then went to the garage and drove away in the resident’s black 2009 Toyota Rav4.

The car’s registration is 524 XZL.

Police are urging anyone with information about the stolen car’s location or the offence itself to contact them via Policelink or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
