A woman in her 20s has died in a head-on collision between a truck and Suzuki Swift on the Bruce Highway.

Emergency services were called to the collision, about 10km south of Sarina, just before 8am with reports occupants of the vehicles had suffered serious injuries.

The female driver of the Suzuki Swift, the sole occupant of the car, died from her injuries at the scene.

The 60-year-old male truck driver was not physically injured.

There were no transports to hospital.

Police say initial investigations indicate the collision occurred about 7.45am near North Inneston Road and Petersen Road.

The Bruce Highway was closed for more than three hours as police from the Forensic Crash Unit investigated the crash.

The driver of the truck was transporting Orica product from the company’s operations in Gladstone to a customer site near Cairns.

An Orica spokesman said the material, used for the manufacture of products in the mining process, was transported by a third party carrier.
