A Mackay mother was “coerced” into engaging in sex acts with a dog with the man who also raped her three-year-old daughter.
Only minimal details were revealed of this vile crime committed several times in Mackay between 2018 and 2019, as she pleaded guilty in Mackay District Court to three counts of bestiality.
The woman, who cannot be named as it would identify a child victim, had been in an on again/off again relationship with a man, later revealed to be a predator who orally raped and molested her daughter.
Crown prosecutor Lara Soldi said the man and his dog had been living with the woman and her daughter.
As a result of his arrest in 2019 police seized three videos depicting sex acts between the couple and the dog.
The court heard the man had been “more responsible for manipulating the dog and securing it’s involvement” while the woman’s involvement was labelled “more passive”.
“But certainly she was an active participant,” Ms Soldi said.
The court heard it was impossible to determine who the woman in the video was and that she had made full admissions to police for which she deserved “special leniency”.
Defence barrister Scott Moon said the woman had “suffered significant trauma in her life”.
The court heard, as a result, she spiralled into drugs and had been using methylamphetamines at the time of her offending, which was at the “behest and coercive control” of her then partner.
In 2020 he was jailed for seven years for all his offending which included oral rape, bestiality, indecent treatment of a child under 12 under care and making child exploitation material.
Mr Moon said since then the woman had worked hard to disassociate from drug use.
Judge Jennifer Rosengren accepted the woman, 30, had a more passive role but was an active participant.
“I also accept that you are remorseful and I accept that you are totally ashamed,” Judge Rosengren said.
The court heard there was nothing to suggest she suffered any sexual deviancy.
She was placed on 18 months probation and convictions were recorded.
