A man who allegedly pretended he wanted a job at a Northern Beaches food store before returning to sexually assault two women has been slapped with extra charges.
Police allege the 37-year-old Mackay man — who has been remanded in custody — had to be tasered when he was arrested at Rural View on Thursday evening.
Mackay Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Eaton said the two alleged assaults happened over about four hours as the man kept returning to the store.
“He’s come into the store wanting to apply for work, asking a 36-year-old woman if there was any work there about 12.50pm,” the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge said.
“They had a conversation and then he left but he returned soon after to the back door of the business.
“He has (allegedly) barged his way in about 2.30pm, kissed her and then digitally raped her.
“She was caught unawares.
“She’s pushed him out the back door. He’s come again and (allegedly) done similar actions to the same woman.
“Then about an hour later, he’s come back again and (allegedly) sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl at the store.”
Police arrested a 37-year-old man about 7.30pm that night on Eimeo Road after another disturbance was reported.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he was charged with further offences.
The man is charged with rape, assault with intent to commit rape, two counts of sexual assault, common assault and stalking against the 36-year-old woman.
He is also charged with sexual assault and common assault against the teenage girl.
The man, who lives in Eimeo, is also charged with enter premises with intent to commit an offence, seriously assault causing bodily harm to a police officer and obstructing police over the Rural View incident.
The man is also charged with fare evasion for allegedly not paying a taxi fare at Bloomsbury the day after the PBR Bull Pit Bull Bash and damaging police property at Cannonvale on August 28.
He did not make an application for bail.
The case was adjourned until December 14.
