A Yeppoon man who was been returned to custody on remand after he allegedly caused an exclusion zone in South Mackay has been scolded over an outburst in court.
Larry Damien Quartermaine is facing four charges from an incident on October 21 on Evans St where he allegedly climbed onto the roof of a high set home and was throwing items at people on the ground.
Police successfully negotiated for the man to climb down.
The 23 year old is charged with burglary and commit indictable offence, attempted burglary and commit indictable offence, receiving tainted property and wilful damage.
He is also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle between October 14 and 21 and enter premises and commit indictable offence on October 20.
The matter was initially mentioned in Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday but adjourned to Wednesday to find out if Mr Quartermaine was on a return to prison warrant.
It was confirmed he was and he was remanded in custody, the court heard.
Solicitor Robyn Cathcart asked for a three week adjournment so she could organised a conference with her client.
When Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan explained the procedure to Mr Quartermaine, he spoke up angry that he had not been sent to the prison “f--king days ago” – he has been in the Mackay watch house since his arrest on the weekend.
When he tried to interrupt Ms Hartigan told him to stop.
“We’ve been waiting for probation and parole, we’ve got no control over that and they’ve only come back today. The bus goes tomorrow, you couldn’t catch the bus on Tuesday,” Ms Hartigan said.
Ms Hartigan asked Ms Cathcart to speak with her client “about how to act when he’s in court”.
“He should know by now,” Ms Hartigan said.
The matter was adjourned to November 14.
