A Mackay barber and tattoo shop owner have denied a serious charge after they were accused of assaulting a woman outside a pub in town.

Gold Empire Tattoo Barber owner Kate Louise Foxley-Connolly fronted Mackay Magistrates Court on Thursday alongside her fiance Andrew Grant Folwell, who also works at the Wood St business.

The court heard both were charged with assault occasioning bodily harm against the same woman outside McGuires Hotel on Wood St.

Both are charged with assault on May 25.

Both also pleaded not guilty to a charge of public nuisance.

Magistrate Damien Dwyer had their matters adjourned for trial, with a brief due by October 18, 2024.

If the matter was to be listed for another plea or a trial was no longer needed, Mr Dwyer said the court would require 14 days notice.

The matters were adjourned to December 2, 2024 for hearing and the couple’s bail was enlarged accordingly.
