The matter against a man charged with kidnapping and serious assaults against a woman has been pushed back several weeks as his solicitor negotiates with police.
Police alleged James Charles Brown unlawfully detained a woman in Mackay between June 5 to June 9, when he was arrested on a warrant for previous charges.
He is further charged with assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence) on June 8 in Calen and assault occasioning bodily harm while armed (domestic violence) on May 31 in South Mackay.
Mr Brown’s solicitor Geoff Govey, of ATSILS, said he had sent a submission to police prosecution last week about the case.
It is understood police prosecution was yet to respond.
Mr Brown was also facing charges on police obstruction and possessing a homemade taser in public, both in West Mackay on May 25.
The court heard Mr Brown was in custody on remand following the execution of a return to prison warrant.
Mr Govey said he was booked in for a consultation with Mr Brown this week and asked for “a couple of weeks”.
Matters were adjourned to July 15 for mention and Mr Brown will appear via videolink.
