Police are calling for dashcam footage after a road rage attack resulted in a young man being flown to hospital with serious head injuries.

An Andergrove man is in hospital with serious head injuries including skull fractures after a road rage attack at Paget.

And now police are calling for any dashcam footage or information into the serious assault about 3.45pm on July 5.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Eaton said the attack occurred following a minor traffic crash at the Broadsound and Boundary Rd intersection.

The Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge said the victim – a 24-year-old Andergrove man – had pulled over in an attempted to exchange information with the other driver.

Police allege the other driver – also a man, who was wearing a high-vis shirt, dark pants and driving a white ute – walked up to the young man and “punched him several times in the face”, Senior Sergeant Eaton said.

The victim suffered serious head injuries including skull fractures was initially taken to Mackay Base Hospital and had to be flown to Townsville Hospital for treatment.

The other driver, who is described has being caucasian, tall with a lean build, left the scene.

Investigators are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who was travelling in the area at the time to contact police.
