Dangerous driving and firearm charges for man accused of ramming vehicle
Police allege this man fired a gunshot into the air and rammed his ute into a car before a search of his home led to more charges.
A Mackay man accused of ramming a ute into another vehicle and firing a warning shot in the air during a wild chase is waiting for his case to reach the higher court.
Jaiden Clint Whitehead is facing a number of charges including dangerous driving as a repeat offender, threatening violence – discharge firearm, and possessing dangerous drugs including meth and cocaine.
Police allege Mr Whitehead rammed his ute into another vehicle while the pair were travelling on Glenella Connection Rd at night on February 11, 2025.
It is further alleged at some point Mr Whitehead also fired a gunshot into the air. The two were unknown to each other.
Police investigations led officers to a Proserpine property where Mr Whitehead was found and arrested on February 15 with help from other police units.
About half an ounce of meth, worth about $2500, and a quantity of cocaine and ammunition were also seized from the Proserpine address.
His case was briefly mentioned this week in Mackay Magistrates Court.
Harvey Legal solicitor Daniel Lane told the court his client was awaiting an indictment to be presented against him in the supreme court for other serious charges.
There can be up to a six month wait between when a matter is committed and when it officially reaches the higher court jurisdiction when an indictment is presented.
Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan adjourned the case to early March for mention.
