The case against a Sarina mum who caused a serious crash that left a man critically injured will be finalised next month.
Courtney Rebecca Simmons has already pleaded guilty to reckless driving causing grievous bodily harm to a 29-year-old Sarina man who was left fighting for his life after a Bruce Highway crash on August 18, 2023.
The incident occurred just after 7am at Alligator Creek and caused a 1997 Toyota LandCruiser to flip down an embankment.
Three of its passengers were hurt including a 29-year-old Sarina man who suffered critical injuries and was flown to Townsville University Hospital.
As a result Simmons was charged with driving without due care and attention or drive without reasonable consideration for other person using road causing grievous bodily harm.
Mackay Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday Simmons had already pleaded guilty to the charge, but there had been an issue with the facts as the matter had been listed for a contested facts hearing next week.
There had been a dispute regarding the level of injuries as a result of the crash.
However Rob Beaming, of McKay’s Solicitors, said the case was “no longer proceeding to a contested facts sentence”.
“The facts are agreed,” he told the court.
Matters were listed for a long plea in late June.
