Darryl Valroy Young, 59, is charged with three counts of murder for allegedly gunning down Mervyn, 71, and Maree, 59, Schwarz and Maree’s son Graham Tighe, 35, with a rifle at close range at Bogie, west of Bowen.
Police allege Mr Young had invited the family for a chat about a dispute over their property borderline and unbranded cattle when the alleged killings occurred at the front gate of his Shannonvale Rd property in the morning on August 4, 2022.
Mr Young is also charged with the attempted murder of Graham’s brother Ross Tighe, who survived the ordeal.

Police will allege the day after the alleged shooting Mr Young was found possessing an unregistered weapon – a Breda shotgun, a restricted items – a replica weapon, and tainted property – a category A Winchester rifle.
Officers seized the items.

He will appear on the murder charges as well as the additional weapons charges.
The Schwarz family had purchased their Sutherland Rd property for about $10m in May 2021, which shares a border with Mr Young’s property that he bought in 2012.
