A fundraising page created to help the survivor of a horror mass shooting at a remote North Queensland property that wiped out three members of his family has raised more than $14,000 in four days.

Police allege Ross Tighe witnessed his brother Graham Tighe, 35, mother Maree Schwarz, 59, and stepfather Mervyn Schwarz, 71, shot and killed at close range with a rifle at Bogie, west of Bowen.

The young father was shot in the stomach as he allegedly ran for his life, hiding in bushes as gunshots continued to ring out.

Ross was able to run to a farm ute and drive about 40km to a neighbouring property to raise alarm.

RACQ CQ Rescue flew him to Mackay Base Hospital where he underwent lifesaving surgery and remains recovering.

On Saturday he was “up and walking about” surrounded by loved ones.

Darryl Young, who owns the Shannonvale Rd property where the mass shooting occurred, has been arrested and charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

He will appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police allege the family were gunned down after Mr Young invited them to his farm to discuss a dispute over property boundary lines.

The Schwarz family had only purchased their property on Sutherland Rd in mid-2021, but it is alleged there have been long-running boundary line disputes.

A GoFundMe page, titled ‘Support Ross and Kaitlin’s family and recovery’, has since been created with more than $14,000 raised for a goal of $15,000.

“The Tighe family suffered a horrific tragedy,” the fundraiser states.
