More delays have plagued the case against a Mackay father accused of murdering his baby boy, as new details about the investigation are revealed.

Police were surveilling the house where Ayden Jedd Bradshaw lived with his partner prior to his arrest in mid 2020, a Mackay court heard.

Mr Bradshaw is charged with murdering his son Beau Bradshaw after the six month old baby was found unresponsive on June 2, 2022.

Beau had spent the morning with his family at the beach before an ambulance was called to his East Mackay home.

It is alleged the little boy suffered traumatic brain and other internal injuries resulting in his death.

He was flown from Mackay Base Hospital to Townsville that night and later died on June 4. His organs were donated.

A two-month intensive police investigation culminated in August 2020 with the arrest of Mr Bradshaw, who was then charged with murder.

He remained in custody on remand until his successful freedom bid in Rockhampton Supreme Court in late December 2022.

His barrister Scott McLennan on Tuesday told Mackay Supreme Court the legal team was making progress and was “in the process of briefing a forensic pathologist”.

“As part of that we needed any videos or photographs taken during an operation on the deceased child’s bowel,” Mr McLennan said.

“We’ve gotten to the bottom of that and know exactly what material they (Crown Prosecution) have and what they don’t have, there’s no videos but there’s photographs.”

The court heard the house where Mr Bradshaw lived with his partner had been “under surveillance” and 80 hours had already been disclosed, but that was not the entirety.

Mr McLennan said a second analysis of Mr Bradshaw’s partner phone, which had been seized by police, was also to be undertaken.

“I’ve discussed with my instructing solicitor the prospect of getting additional experts beyond the forensic pathologist as well,” he said.

When Justice David North asked if there was a target date for trial Mr McLennan said not at this stage.

“I haven’t even read the entirety of the brief, it’s tens of thousands of pages long,” he said.

“It seems like every time I read 1000 pages (there’s) more disclosures required and I get another 1000 pages in addition.”

Crowns prosecutor Tiffany Lawrence said the bulk of this disclosure would be resolved in the next day or two with the surveillance records the only outstanding material.

Matters were adjourned to May 3 in Mackay Supreme Court for mention and review.
