A former fisherman previously convicted of drug and weapons possession has now been found with drugs and related items in a police raid.
Beau Amos, 40, faced Mackay Magistrates Court this week on charges stemming from a search at his home in Bucasia on February 1.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Hannah Beaumont said police found 0.9g of marijuana and a cash counter in his pantry, two diazepam pills on his bedside table, and two digital scales.
Amos had been sentenced in the Supreme Court in August, 2022, after being found with 7g pure meth, 36g of marijuana, and a semiautomatic rifle.
Following the most recent raid, he was charged with two counts of drug possession and two counts of possessing property connected with a drug offence, but was discharged of an unlawful vehicle use charge after the prosecution presented no evidence.
Defence lawyer Andrew Bale said Amos had been making progress on his rehabilitation since his Supreme Court sentence and was about to start a new job.
“Unfortunately for him it’s a long road back,” Mr Bale said.
“But he’s engaged with Lives Lived Well and parole.”
Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan accepted Amos’ early plea of guilty and took into account his good behaviour on parole.
She said the small amount of drug material did not “represent a significant return to drug use”.
Amos was fined $750 with convictions recorded and all items forfeited.
