The trial of a young man accused of murdering his six-month-old son is gearing up as lawyers told a Mackay court a protracted wait for medical evidence was over.
Ayden Jedd Bradshaw is charged with the murder of Beau Frank Bradshaw, found unresponsive at his East Mackay home on June 2, 2020.
Baby Beau died two days later.
Crown prosecutor Tiffany Lawrence told Mackay Supreme Court on Wednesday there was “no further medical evidence expected” following several delays in the lead up to trial in November.
“There’s been some progress with the medical expert reports which was the most recent delay,” Ms Lawrence said.
“The forensic pathologist engaged on the defendant’s behalf would be providing another report, I’ve received an indication that that will be occurring so the Crown will now consider my learned friend’s submission.
“So that’s the next step from the Crown’s perspective (to) determine whether or not there are any legal arguments ahead of the trial.”
Justice David North heard there could still be several points of contention between the parties that would need to be settled before then.
Mr Bradshaw was arrested in mid 2022 and remained on remand until being granted bail in December 2022.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.
The murder trial was listed for November 4, 2024 and Mr Bradshaw’s bail enlarged accordingly.
