A search and rescue mission launched for a 92-year-old Central Queensland man missing for six days has come to a tragic end.
Police, SES and community members scouring the outback for any sign of Helmut “Harry” Langer was last seen at a Rockhound Road address in Sapphire Central on Sunday, April 20.
There were serious concerns for his welfare because he had a medical condition, and this disappearance was out of character.
It is understood he would likely have a blue backpack with him.
On April 25 police began searching for Mr Langer with search lines being conducted down Rockhound Road, which backs onto the Sapphire Central Wetlands Reserve.
It is understood police were also asking residents in the area to check their own lands including in any dams or shafts.
Community members have also joined the search, which resumed at 7am Saturday with an incident control centre established outside the Gemini Caravan Park.
A QPS spokeswoman said the search was expected to continue until nightfall but just after 4pm it was revealed Mr Langer had been tragically found deceased.
Police were not treating the death as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
