The 29-year-old mum is accused of being a player in an ice trafficking ring linked to the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle gang after police operation Romeo Suitcase targeted an alleged drug network spanning from the Gold Coast to Cairns.

She is charged with trafficking between October 25, 2019 and March 31, 2020, and supplying dangerous drugs in December 2019 and February and March 2020 in the Mackay region.

The business owner is also charged with aggravated drug possession, receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying, unlawful possession of a category D/H/R weapon, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

It is further alleged Ms Smith possessed a large amount of ice after police raided her home in April 2021 and for that she is charged with aggravated drug possession.

In November 2022 Ms Smith was charged with dangerous driving on the Bruce Highway at Bakers Creek and possessing dangerous drugs including alprazolam, buprenorphine and fentanyl at Rural View.

On Friday her bail was revoked and she was remanded in custody following the continued stand off between Magistrate Damien Dwyer and her Brisbane-based solicitor Daniel Hannay over finalising the most recent matters.

Mr Dwyer had previously indicated he was not prepared to do a sentence until Ms Smith’s drug-related matters had been finalised in the higher and he refused to allow Mr Hannay to appear over the phone for his client.

Her case was adjourned to this week and on Tuesday barrister Angus Edwards, instructed by Hannay Lawyers, appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court for Ms Smith.

Mr Edwards told the court there would be a supreme court arraignment for his client in two weeks on the charges which had been committed up.

“One would imagine that there’s likely to be some negotiations and the matter may or may not proceed to sentence, one doesn’t know at the moment,” Mr Edwards said.

A number of other charges including the dangerous driving charge still remain in the magistrates court.

Mr Edwards asked for Ms Smith’s matters, which remained in the magistrates court jurisdiction, to be adjourned until later in the year until after the arraignment had occurred.

He said some of those charged would also be transferred to the higher court to link up with the most serious charges.

Mr Dwyer allowed Ms Smith bail.
