A 29 year old has faced court after he allegedly stole a LandCruiser Prado and then got it bogged on a cane farm in Mackay.

Police officers arrested Alexander Peter Denis Hay at 2pm Wednesday at a property in Te Kowai, about 15 minutes’ drive west of the Mackay CBD.

The Andergrove man faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Thursday via videolink from the watchhouse.

Along with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Mr Hay is also charged with failing to properly dispose of a needle or syringe.

Legal Aid Queensland solicitor Rosemary Varley asked Magistrate Michelle Howard for a three week adjournment.

Ms Varley said Mr Hay instructed he was seeking legal representation from lawyer Marcus Hahn at McKays Solicitors.

The matter was adjourned to February 21 with Mr Hay remanded in custody.
