A Mackay teen is recovering after a duo allegedly abducted her while she was on a Tinder date while wearing balaclavas and armed with a hockey stick.
Aaron James Davis, 32 and Kashya Ann Poyner, 26 are each charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery/in company and one count each of deprivation of liberty and face masked, blackened or disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.
They will spend another night in custody over allegations they set upon the teen and her date at Mackay Harbour in an attempted carjacking.
Police will allege a 22-year-old man and 18-year-old woman had been on a date at North Wall beach about 12.30am on November 13.
“Police will then allege that a vehicle has pulled up and a male and female have exited the vehicle threatening the two victims with a hockey stick,” Detective Acting Inspector Chris Eaton said.
It’s further alleged the duo, who were unknown to the couple, concealed their faces with balaclavas.
“They (allegedly) demanded the vehicle and items from the victims,” Acting Inspector Eaton said.
Police allege the 22-year-old man was “able to escape in his vehicle” and then the duo “has taken the female against her will”.
They will allege she was forced into a vehicle and driven to a Bucasia home where she was held for some time before being released at a nearby IGA about 2.30am.
Acting Inspector Eaton said a subsequent police investigation resulted in officers searching a Bezzina Ct, Bucasia home and as a result, a man and woman were arrested and charged over the allegations.
Charges against both were briefly mentioned in Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday but adjourned.
