A 79-year-old man has died in hospital after suffering life-threatening chest injuries in a single-vehicle crash in the Mackay region on Friday.
Initial police investigations indicate a white Madza BT-50 utility was driving along Mackay Eungella Rd at Mirani, west of Mackay, when it left the road and crashed about 12.30pm.
The driver and sole occupant, a 79-year-old man from Pinnacle, suffered life-threatening chest injuries and was transported to Mackay Base Hospital.
He tragically passed away in hospital on Saturday night.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone with vision to contact them.
